- In a corner of this small Mediterranean fishing village is bathed by the sea, also known as La Cala, with 16 kilometers of coastline and a large number of coves with clean and clear horizons, as Xelin Cala, Cala Forn, Cala Sant Jordi or Estany Tort, combining sea line, nature and the services that will make you enjoy your stay. Each year, our beaches are Blue Flag quality.
It is a fishing village, which was founded in 1775, and is located in the region of the Costa Dorada, between Hospitalet de L'Infant and San Carlos de la Rapita, to 50 km from Tarragona and Port Aventura, which has adapted to tourism demand with ease, but kept its spirit and friendly fishing village.
The cuisine of the Costa Dorada is one of the greatest exponents of the Mediterranean diet, acclaimed worldwide. The popular cuisine of this region is surprisingly enormous wealth, variety and authenticity. How could it be otherwise, is based on the sea seafood dishes like risotto made with rice Ebro Delta and freshly caught seafood, "Suquet" ... fresh fish dishes recognized by the most discerning palate.
If you try any of these specialties, we recommend the Restaurant L'Alghero, beachfront de l'Alghero, with excellent cuisine and exceptional views.
The best way to see the incredible landscapes of L `Ametlla de Mar is certainly, by hiking or mountain bike, allowing you to enjoy all types of landscapes: steep cliffs, marinas and fishing, wooded areas, etc.. Above all, enjoy old buildings such as Fort de Sant Jordi d'Alfam or the ruins of the Castle of L'Ametlla de Mar. Do not miss the opportunity to visit over the old town, with its whitewashed houses whitewashed typical Catalan coastal towns.
L `Ametlla de Mar is inconceivable without its beaches: their 14 kilometers of coast are the most attractive and, therefore, life revolves around them. In our population can be found from unspoilt beaches (Cala de La Llenya, south) to fully equipped beaches (beach of Alghero, in the same population), barely covering include beaches, ideal to go with kids (Cala Forn in the north) and some breathtakingly beautiful (Cala de Sant Jordi).
The nightlife of our population is very wide and varied. A quiet option to begin is to take a drink at the rooftop bars of the Plaza Catalunya. To continue with the fun, you can move up the street walking Miguel de Cervantes, which houses many pubs and music bars. Our recommendations: Pierrot and Forum, two local atmosphere with good music, located at numbers and 18 19 this street, respectively.
